Crews Respond to Water Rescue at Grand Rapids Dam [Video]

Water safety was front and center as Grand Rapids Township Fire and Rescue, Northwest 190, and the Wood County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Grand Rapids Dam Saturday around 7:20 p.m.

According to witnesses standing along the towpath at Mary Jane Thurston State Park, a group of people in a paddle boat nearly went over the dam. A rescue boat was seen moving the occupants to the shore while others walked down the dam to retrieve the boat.
Reports from those involved indicated no one was seriously injured and everyone was accounted for. Units were cleared from the scene just after 8:15 p.m.
