Grand Rapids Christmas Open House Brings Father Christmas to the Village


When should you put your Christmas lights up? Before or after Thanksgiving? Well, if you are a resident or shop owner in Grand Rapids the answer is simple. Last week!


Villagers around Grand Rapids are a festive bunch and we're ready to once again welcome the crowds as we show off the festive holiday side of our beautiful canal town.


The Grand Rapids Christmas Open House begins Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The festivities pick up again on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from noon until 5 p.m.


There will be a sleigh full of entertainment both days!


Saturday

  • Father Christmas will be strolling around town from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

  • Gingerbread House Decorating at the Old Fire Station from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

  • Roast S'mores from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Cottage on the River

  • Ice Creation from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Lincoln Street

Plus there will be a ton of strolling entertainment on Saturday.

  • 10 a.m. until noon - Fusion

  • 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. - Mark Sarkan

  • 1 p.m. - Otsego Choir

  • 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. - Pride Choir

  • 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. - DJ Mike Mitchell

Sunday

  • Father Christmas will be strolling around the village from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

  • Roast S'mores from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Cottage on the River

  • Iron Works Blacksmith from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Lincoln Street

More strolling entertainment on Sunday!

Plus, Christmas on the Towpath will be playing all weekend on Towpath Radio. Classic Christmas tunes all weekend until 7 p.m. Sunday evening.


As for the weather, the National Weather Service is calling for a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures in the mid 40s on Saturday. Sunday we can expect showers before 1 p.m. with cloudy skies in the afternoon.


Finally, Santa and Mrs. Clause are making a trip down from the North Pole! You can catch them at the Shoppes at Carson block on Front Street all weekend.
