Grand Rapids Village Administrator to Exit

The meeting minutes from the November 8 Grand Rapids Village Council meeting have been made available on the Grand Rapids, Ohio website.

Council discussed the roof at the historic town hall. The roof has been leaking for some time. Suggestions were made to request Grand Rapids Township use their leftover "town hall money" to assist with the repair.

Council President Rachel Smith made a motion to increase the mayor and council member rate of pay for subcommittees. The motion was approved by all members to increase compensation at a rate of half of the current rate of council meeting pay. The general pay rate will remain the same.

Conditions of the village sidewalks were briefly mentioned. The village received two expensive quotes and will revisit the cost in the spring of 2022.

According to the minutes, village administrator Chad Hoffman will be leaving village employment. No exit date was provided. Mayor John Berry thanked Mr. Hoffman for his service.

Village meetings occur on the second and fourth Monday of each month and are open to the public. Meetings start at 7 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, council meetings are held at the old fire hall on Front Street, opposed to Grand Rapids' Town Hall.
