Here's How to Listen in the Car

Updated: Aug 1, 2022

One of the biggest questions we get here at Towpath Media is, "How do I listen in the car?"

Let's answer that!

Towpath Media is made up of three internet exclusive broadcast stations; Towpath Radio, River Rat Country, and Sweet 419. We're different from most internet stations in that we're professionally programmed and have a strong local tie to Northwest Ohio. Listeners can hear us through each station's app on Android or Apple, through each station's website (which are all mobile and desktop friendly), through Alexa, and even on your smart TV. Click here to get a run down of all the different ways of listening.

We understand that when you're in the car it's much easier to listen to FM or AM radio but if you have a connected dashboard you can listen just as easily to each of our stations or your favorite podcast. All you need to do is connect your smart phone to your dashboard via Bluetooth.

But, what if you don't have a connected dashboard?

You can make your stock car stereo compatible with your smart phone. All you need is a cheap transmitter/Bluetooth device, like this!

You can order this device and normally have it delivered within a day or so. All you need to do is plug it into the socket in your car, we used to call them cigarette lighters, then follow the instructions in the manual to pair your phone to it.

Next, open either the Towpath Radio app, River Rat Country app, or Sweet 419 app.

Finally, tune your car radio to the frequency you chose on the device, and you got us!

Most devices will connect to your phone automatically after their initial set up.

These devices work for more than just getting the Towpath Media stations, you can listen to your favorite podcasts, music stored on your phone, and even turn your car stereo into a hands free calling device!

If you ever need help setting this up, just e-mail us and we'll help you out!
