Otsego's Head Coach Steps Down

More changes are coming to Otsego Local Schools as head football coach Matt Dzierwa announced he will step down after nine years of leading the varsity football team.

In a Tweet on Monday WTOL Sports Reporter Jordan Strack said, “He’s led the Knights to a 21-2 record for the last two years.”

The Toledo Blade went further into Dzierwa’s stats as follows:

  • 2020 All Blade Coach of the Year

  • 2013-2021 Dzierwa was 58-37 overall

  • 38-23 in the NBC

  • 7-3 overall in playoff games

  • 50-15 overall in the past six years.

  • 32-8 in the NBC

  • Second place finishes in 2016, 2017, and 2019

  • NBC titles in 2020 and 2021

The news hits a bit more personal for Dzierwa’s son, Joseph, who Tweeted, “From the beginning in the backyard to Friday night lights, thank you for all that you have done for me and our teams. Thank you Dad!!!”

The Toledo Blade reports Dzierwa will be taking time to focus on his health.
