Parking & Emergency Info Posted for Applebutter Fest

The Grand Rapids Applebutter Festival will welcome thousands into Grand Rapids on Sunday, October 9 but preparation among volunteers and vendors will continue the week prior and into the early morning hours of the festival.


Festival leaders distributed notices among residence on Front Street advising of road closures and parking regulations for the weekend.

  • Beginning 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, Front Street between Beaver and West Streets will be closed to traffic and parking. Front Street will open after the festival ends on Sunday.

  • Beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, the entire village will be closed off to traffic, all vehicles will be sent to festival parking lots. Shuttle service will be provided.

  • If you live in the village and need to get in or out you'll need your driver's license. Residents who recently moved, and don't have the correct address on their license, will need a pass from the village office. Entrance is not guaranteed after 9 a.m. the day of the festival.

Leaders also provided emergency information.

  • First aid is available at the new fire station and the log cabin near the Marathon gas station.

  • Lost children should be taken to the new fire station, old fire station, or to any uniformed sheriff's deputy.

  • Police command with the Wood County Sheriff's Office will be set up at the Presbyterian Church. In case of an emergency call 911, if it's not an emergency you can call Wood County dispatch at 419-354-9001.

  • To get in touch with the fire department you can call 419-832-5461, which will ring directly into the fire house.

  • If it storms, the Presbyterian Church and Calvary Methodist Church will be open as shelters.

  • Those needing car unlock and jump service can call 419-354-9001.
