St. Luke's Hospital to Close
According to a news release from McLaren, St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee will be closing by mid-May after its Board of Directors voted to discontinue operations.
The hospital points to "historic financial loss" that began before the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to run into millions each month.
St. Luke's will begin to reduce admissions and other operations over the next few weeks, those currently being treated will complete their care.
Mercy Health is expected to extend employment to most of St. Luke's doctors and employees. Mercy will also acquire St. Luke's facilities, land, and assets. Mercy Health expects to restore some outpatient services later this year.
